Emergency Student Housing Fund

The Emergency Housing Fund is designed to assist students who are unexpectedly housing insecure or will experience homelessness without immediate assistance with rent. The goal is to reduce the amount of students who drop out of NMSU or DACC due to lack of housing and encourage them to continue on the path to complete their degree. 

Students who are identified as housing insecure will be approved by the Dean of Students Office and one of the following offices: NMSU Social Services, Office of Institutional Equity, and DACC Student Accessibility Services. Once approved, funds will be dispersed directly to the landlord covering rent for a month or two allowing the student time to get back on their feet. Fund disbursement will be capped at $1,000 per student to assist as many students as possible. With your help, we can grow our impact and provide the stability these students need to be successful. 

In 2019, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development reported that the state with the largest increase in homelessness was New Mexico at 27%. Together we can help students in need of emergency housing relief and create an environment for them to succeed.
